The nw2s::io lets you integrate your modular with your studio just as if it were another well-behaved piece of rack gear. The module provides a consistent, single point of integration between the two worlds and keeps cabling hassle to a minimum.
The redesigned unbalanced version used dedicated audio op amps for the signal path and will work great if you do not expect to have grounding or interference issues in shorter cable runs. The signal from modular to studio levels are attenuated by 6dB. This provides an ideal recording level for +/- 5V levels typical for most VCOs, but also provides enough headroom for +/- 10V and greater signals from some louder VCAs and overdrive modules. From studio to modular, this unit also provides 6dB of gain from Burr Brown audio op amps. Perfect for treating your modular as a hardware insert in your DAW or other production setup.
Now in kit form! This is a mix of SMT and through hole components that may be ideal for a challenging first SMT project or a second project once you are a bit more comfortable with a hot air station. The smallest components are 0805 and the ICs are all 1.27mm pitch SOIC. If you are patient, you could build it all with a fine-tipped soldering iron, but hot air and a paste syringe are by far the easiest.
